saturated fats + carbs easily pushed into fat cells?
I was doing some research on saturated fat. I wanted to post here to see if my understanding is correct or flawed. Fat cells contain saturated fat. So dietary saturated fat is the most readily stored fat since it's identical to the fat cells contents. Pair up saturated fat with a high glycemic carbo...

cardio
I've realized through alot of wai's research that cardio will not necessarily make you lose weight. In fact, I've found out first hand that too much cardio will make me gain weight! All the lost sugar has to replaced, and chances are, you can gain weight when you replace this sugar. This is why she ...

yup
And something I remember reading is you guys said that when you deplete the glycogen, you have "no choice" as to whether or not to refill it. You've already dug your own grave if you are doing too much cardio. Whereas walking on the other hand, no threat to glycogen = ideal

gaining weight (fat) with 'intense form of cardio'
Wai is right once again! Get this. Genetically, I tend to be a little bit heavier set. Latley though, I've been getting a bit bored so I decided to start skateboarding again. It is a very intense form of cardio because basically all's I'm doing is jumping in the air when I do my tricks. Jumping take...

clarification
great response RRM. Let me ask a little more to clarify my understanding if you dont mind: you mentioned a long time ago that estrogen in the male is necessary. its there for a reason. thats doesnt mean we need to go supplementing with estrogen of course! do phytoestrogens tie up the the estrogen re...

effects of phytoestrogens in soy?
RRM, you know your biochem, so i wanted to know what you know personally about the phytoestrogens in soy. Do they exert estrogenic effects and supress testosterone activity? Some sites say it's only minor. I really have no idea anymore. Could you help me out? Thanks!

electrolytes fruit juice
Instead of drinking gatorade during intense physical activity, I would rather drink fruit juice. Is there a fruit juice that is comparable to gatorade for electrolyte replenishment?

cystalline fructose vs. HFCS
alot of new drinks now are being sweetened with crystalline fructose. vitamin water for example. fructose is reported to have a very low glycemic index (23 i think). i recall wai saying this is beacuse fructose has to be changed to glucose before it can raise blood sugar why is that high fructose co...

diabetes
Nick. Diabetes and obesity run in my family. When I start lifting, i can very well risk becoming a diabetic from overfeeding on carbohydrates. And like I said, mentally, we tend to eat more if we are gaining. Me thinks I should stay away from it and keep tight regulation of my food intake so I don't...

eating more > protein synthesis
Nick, I am assuming that in addition to needing to eat more to supply more sugar to your muscles, the increased levels of protein synthesis in bigger muscles will also increase the appetite as well since you need more substrate to create the new contractile proteins. I also think that the biggest st...

Im curious. When the muscles hypertrophy somewhat significantly, will they compete with the brain for serum glucose? Or does the body insure the brain's glucose needs are met and then begin to feed the muscles with whats left

appetite
In fact, being muscled stimulates your appetite because muscles use sugars/carbs for energy. The more muscles, the sooner your blood-glucose level goes down, increasing your appetite I found this on Wai's website. Is this really what happens with an increase in muscle? It starts stealing sugars for...
