Hempseed is sometimes called Hempnut - has anyone every tried this?
I used to eat it, and I think it might be okay as a nut. It is very moist, oily, and doesn't really seem like a seed at all because its so easy to chew. There very small and its almost like eating a grain. It hasn't been heated or anything.
What do you think RRM, others?

Seeds are designed so that they are not consumed; they contain various enzyme inhibitors / anti-nutrients to be as 'unattractive as possible', similar as the seeds in fruits. We generall dont chew on and digest those seeds in fruits; they leave our body intact, so that they can be the seed for a new tree / plant.
So, for fruits it is part of the 'survival plan' of the tree they come from to be as attractive (much nutrients, little anti-nutrients) as possible, whereas the seeds need to survive, and therefore contain much anti-nutrients.
