Yes! If still in the shell, brazil nuts may last several years. Of course, the nuts you are planning to buy were not harvested yesterday, it may have been sitting in the warehouse for quite some time. Refridgerate the brazil nuts (or even freeze them if you are not against that, it also makes them easier to crack open) and they will keep for an even longer period of time.
Also take into consideration that not all of the brazil nuts will be of good eating quality. There are always a few bad ones, and the amount of bad ones increases as time goes on. You might have anywhere from 20 to 24 pounds of edible brazil nuts.

Thank you! that's awesome, buying them at such bulk will save hundreds each year.
I'm assuming this applies to all nuts?

I'm not sure if it works with all nuts, but when brazil nuts are placed in the freezer overnight, the meat of the nut becomes very hard. The shell stays the same, so when you go to crack it, the shell shatters but the nut is left whole (as it is too solid to fall apart from the impact).
I'm certain that you could keep frozen nuts twice as long compared to refridgerated, and many more times than fresh.
There will always be slight change to the protein 'cleanliness' of the nuts, which may not be 100% to begin with, but that only matters regarding acne.
nomad, before you jump the gun and buy all of those nuts, make sure your body can handle it 100%. Make sure that they do not cause acne in you, if not you will be stuck with a bunch of nuts.

thanks
Thank you, I will. My face seems to be getting better, even with eating the nuts that are already shelled. Im going to give it another week and see how my face looks then before I decide to either omit or continue.
Thank you again
