A tundra where will we be without trees? Thannnks!
Re: Green Almond
Its actually a seed; not a nut, and only the cultivated sweet types are edible. Bitter almonds are toxic (including all wild almonds).
Wiki: "Blanched almonds are shelled almonds that have been treated with hot water to soften the seedcoat, which is then removed to reveal the white embryo.

Re: Green Almond
??? huh where did that come from?
All 4 pictures are of 1 single green almond.
Taken apart and photographed within 3 minutes, on the same ceramic plate. NO heat-treatment by me! No blanching!
I took it apart to show you what is inside the green.
The white part looks like an almond.
When you break it in half, the center is a clear squishy gel liquid that taste a light sour note.

Re: Green Almond
I did not say that the almond in your picture was blanched.
The Wiki part was just a bit of info.
Though maybe it is even possible to buy blanched almonds looking like the one in picture number one, and then you can easily take out the white seed?
Did you like the taste?
Re: Green Almond
The white part yes.*
The green part no.*

* I only had half a green almond. We bought 4 to test out what it was.
Left on the counter top for > 48 hours and the green got some spots. It probably should have been kept in a cool environment and not next to the stove.
** I chewed on it raw, it had a bit of an okra texture. I read a blog about it being used in a salad, the green part and white part, but I don't recommend the green part.
