I found a website ( http://www.geo-pie.cornell.edu/issues/toxins.html ) that
lists toxins found in plants. Most of the toxic plants are vegetables. I
was surprised to find figs and tomatoes in the list.
Here is a snipit if the list:
Toxin:..................... plant:
Glycoalkaloids ...........Potato, tomato
Oxalate .................... Spinach, rhubarb, tomato
Phenols ..................... Most fruits and vegetables, cereals, soybean, potato
Coumarins ................Celery, parsley, parsnips, figs
Would it be best to avoid these fruits for the some of the same reasons
we don't eat vegetables?
I guess I need to accept Phenols, they seem to be in most fruits.

Re: toxins
No. Oxalate and glycoalkaloids, for example, are particularly found in unripe tomatoes. (the green parts; also very much in green potatoes)johndela1 wrote:Would it be best to avoid these fruits for the some of the same reasons we don't eat vegetables?
Coumarins are particularly found in the seeds of fruits.
