sore throat & gargling

Post by clementine »

Hi, I might be being super paranoid, but I have a sore throat and a friend recommended me to gargle apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper... Gargling it won't affect acne, will it?? Also how should I eat on Wai when I have a sore throat/ cold? I really feel like having hot soup so its hard!

the stuff your friend suggested just kills of bacteria - both good and bad - you can try it. don't think gargling will affect acne.

if it were me then i'd have a cup of soothing tea (like cammomile) with honey (also supposed to feel soothing to the throat). not perfectly wai, but sometimes feeling better in the short term is nicer than doing the diet perfectly. take care!!

a sore throat is due to a virus, not bacteria.
Taking in aggressive compounds in not the right way to aid your body.
The only thing that helps, is supporting and strengthening your defense. The best way to do so is by getting more sleep. (and eating enough, of course)

how do you know that sore throat is viral rather than bacterial? Just curious.

a flu or cold is never bacterial, always viral.

There are actually different kinds of sore throat:
- a dry throat from dry air
- a cold/flu gives a runny nose and the postnasal drip causes a sore throat
- a viral infection
- a bacterial infection

Basically the Wai diet is always appropriate, but you'll have to listen to your body if you feel the need to eat more/less from a certain food item.
