My name is Shawna I am a 36 yr old from Ohio. Here are my medical issues:
Type 2 diabetic with renal manifestations for 3 yrs
Liver cirrhosis stage 3 fibrosis(biopsy confirmed)
Pure hyperglyceridemia
Morbid Obesity
Dysmetabolic syndrome
proteinuria
skin condition called lichen simplex chronicus
sleep apnea
anemia
The medications that I'm currently taking are:
Diabetes:
Insulin-Lantus 98 units at bedtime, 40 unit in the am
Insulin-Apidra 25 units before each meal with sliding scale
Skin condition:
Hydroxyzine
Clobetasol topical cream
Urea 40% topical cream
Vitamin supplements:
omega 3-for triglycerides
Vitamin D
melatonin-help for sleeping
Lisinopril-protects kidneys
Metoporol-lowering heart rate
Omeperazole-Reflux gerd
My diet that the doctors recommended is as follows:
Breakfast-Protein shake(slim fast) + 1 small fresh fruit
Lunch- Protein shake(slim fast) + 1 small fresh fruit
Dinner-4oz of lean meat(baked, grilled or broiled) with 2 servings of starches
with vegetables (unlimited) with 1 small piece of fruit.
I am on limited income and not able to get other alternative medical advice, looking to find out if this diet would benefit me in any way. My liver is not processing much of the food I am eating now as it is, I am worried that the raw parts(fish, eggs) of the diet will hurt my liver further, or not be digested properly.
Also I am scheduled to have bariatric surgery-Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in december/january, this is the recommendation of my gasterenterologist. After the surgery I will be on a total liquid diet mostly protein, with vitamin and mineral supplements. Right now this is the only option available to me, but I am open to any suggestions that will help me on my journey to a healthier life. I have been the same weight for 3 years no gain, no loss.
Am type 2 diabetic

Welcome ShawnaTweety,
You can do this. All it takes, is determination.
Also, particularly when you are diabetic, you needs lots of small meals instead of 4 or more bigger meals. Thats because the system that has to deal without incoming energy (the insulin - glucagon system) doesnt work properly anymore.
The smaller the meals, and the more often you eat, the better.
Also make sure that these meals consists of real food, with real energy, so that the body knows what its getting, and doesnt go into alarm modus.

Like RRM said, more frequent smaller meals is key. The problem is that appetite enhancers in food might make you eat more. A good way to start might be to just cut every big meal in half, and eat each half on separate times. In your case getting towards the Wai diet slowly (and slowly reducing the medication) could be preferable than going cold turkey, but I'm not sure.
