Thanks, Nick :)- I mostly eat mangoes, bananas, watermelon and other melons, some pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, and grapes, cucumber, tomato, orange juice and at least one avocado a day.

I make sure my oranges are quite ripe and sweet, but sometimes I buy fresh juice from a juice bar, and I'm not sure how ripe their oranges are, but it tastes pretty sweet.

Lately, I've just been eating all day, and not really having "meals," so maybe I'll start having 6 meals a day or so, and neutralizing the acids in between meals by swishing with some gentle alkalizing agent or something, plus the raw milk which has really been helping.

Oscar - where is the source for the information? I would like to read more about that, as it seems counterintuitive that the healthiest teeth would be the most yellow. Thank you!

Here a good link, not only for enamel, but other dental topics. However the link will open on the topic of enamel.

Here is a good article about Dr. Price's findings, with X-ray pictures of teeth that were healed through diet alone - it's very interesting, and direct contradictory evidence to what most dentists say - that teeth cannot be healed.

Has anyone treated cavities naturally?

The link above mentions a sea salt solution as a fix. I think finally I can not avoid my dental problems, OY!

Not castile soap, but tooth soap. Sorry if you already answered this avalon, but how long ago did you start Wai, and when did you start experiencing teeth problems?

I know the question was for Avalon. I've been on the Wai diet for 2 months, and I started experiencing teeth problems almost immediately - within one week.

I still have inflated gums and teeth feel less solid. Do a search on teeth and you'll see my old posts.

So far, I haven't found any solution that works for me

BTW, I never had this problem before with this kind of consistence. I can only attribute it to the diet. It mostly started when I started juicing and blending instead of just eating whole fruits.

I would say that even when not on Wai, and doing just raw food, eating mostly blended/juiced foods will result in tooth problems. I never juice and blend only rarely on Wai, eating tons of sweet fruits like melons, bananas, mangos. Not too much citrus either. I've been doing this for about a month and my teeth are better than they ever where when doing blending and juicing on raw. Maybe you should eat whole fruits Chin-Chin, I mean at least give it a week to see if things improve. Oh, and I always heard citrus could be a problem food, I know that sometimes my teeth don't like more than 2 or 3 oranges a day.

Hi avo,

Been on Wai four- going on five months. I have not done the juicing and have had little of sweet fruits. I think one of my problems was I was eating dried fruit, some everyday and not rinsing afterwards....so I think a lot of that just stayed in my teeth...plus I have needed to take care of some things, but only recently did I feel I do have some cavity thingys happening.

So anyone know any miraculous cavity cures :D

I've never heard of tooth soap. I'm using baking soda now as a break from my traditional paste. I'll google tooth soap. Anyone have recommendations for miraculous toothpaste :D

A bunch of people on the rawfood.com forums recommend tooth soap, saying baking soda or salt is ok, but is abrasive. I think tooth soap will be just what you are looking for.

Yes, dried fruits as well as nuts have a reputation of messing up teeth badly, especially for those who eat these foods daily, and it's even a bigger problem if you don't rinse/brush/floss/chew fibrous food (apple/celery?) soon afterwards. Some would go as far to say that dried fruits are just as bad for teeth as something like, say, taffy or gummy candies.

Interestingly, an article in a magazine (Energy Times, I believe) stated that raisins have been shown to improve dental health, as they contain substances that inhibit tartar, plague and bacterial growth in the mouth and gums. So if you insist on eating the dried fruits, maybe stick with raisins (best if rehydrated in water) and see if things improve.

Avo,

So you believe that tooth decay is caused by external things as opposed to internal things? I tend to believe that the cause for tooth decay is not direct contact with food, but poor nutrition.

Do you believe nuts are bad for your teeth because they damage them when the contact them or because they mess up some mineral balance or some other internal cause?

First of all, it's not me who believes that. That is what I've heard from many, however. I have not eaten nuts for any length of time to see differences.

I also do not know what to believe in regards to what causes bad teeth. Proper diet, nutrition and vitamins each play a role, but so do acids, abrasives and sticky sugars, like certian candies and dried fruits. It is not 'either or' but a combination of factors.

avo,
Thank you, I am fine without dried fruits, though they were an easy snack- I have been off them for a few days and only think of them when I see their remains in the cupboard!

I too have heard about nuts as a problem with teeth...but for now continue with my Brazil and walnuts. I haven't yet looked into tooth soap but will.

I would think that tooth wear would be more external as that is more like ground zero for a tooth. It's hard, near impossible, okay impossible not to have food directly contact the tooth. It's not a typical interal nutritional issue- we're talking 'First Contact' here over years and years. Sugar, coffee, alcohol, acid, sugar, coffee...directly hitting the teeth and often without flossing staying with the teeth for hours and hours...

oh the horror, the horror!

I just have to order some algenate and some molds before my teeth fall out, so I can DIY rebuild them later on :D
