Mouthwashes

A question to Oscar:

What are your thoughts on the use of mouthwashes? I personally use the Listerine version without flouride. It does, however, contain alcohol - could this be detrimental to my teeth?

Do you know about any non-toxic, natural alternatives to these mouthwashes?

We know quite a bit about the bacterial flora in the mouth, yet we do not know the exact function and balance. Mouthwashes are (as far as I know) meant to indiscriminately kill bacteria in the mouth. I don't think that's a good thing.

Why do you (want to) use a mouthwash?
