makeup causing acne

before and after wai, my skin has been pretty clear because i stopped regularly wearing makeup a yr ago. however lately i like to wear occasional makeup for a more polished, luminous look esp. at night. i notice after a couple days i start developing acne even tho i thoroughly wash my face at night. my skin has always reacted negatively to foundations. is it possible for a person like me to wear foundation on a daily basis without developing acne?

also my skin clears up almost right away when i stop wearing makeup.

Your skin may react allergically-like to specific ingredients,
so it may very well be that there is a foundation your skin has no issues with.
Try as many different brands as you can (collect samples) to find out...
