Ellen's Diet Rantings
Alright!
I frequented previous threads and bombarded RRM, Oscar and fictor with silly questions.
I started the diet, then disappeared.
I'm starting it today (it's 1 AM) in the morning, and hopefully the heavens will split open, hell would freeze over, pigs will start flying around and I won't give into temptation.
I've "been" on Wai's Diet, for two weeks before.
Along the begining of week two I cracked and ate an entire zoo (meat is my weakness).
My acne, which is moderately horrible but mostly scarred, was clearing for a short while.
And for two days of me binging chocolate and bacon it stayed that way.
Until the third day came and I might have eaten bacon again with something dairy.
After that I didn't bother looking in the mirror.
During the diet, when I was actually being good.
I have lost 0 pounds. Not even a 0.01 of a pound.
Since I started eating "normal" for the past 3 weeks,
I have lost 4 pounds...
I'm not sure why... but it seems that when I eat any second that I'm hungry until I'm full, I gain no weight whatsoever.
I remember being able to eat as much as a guy can, but now I find myself filling up a lot quicker. I eat maybe 1/4 of what my skinny Asian bf does!
Weird, and has nothing to do with the diet.
My skin, is horrible since I was 12, and it has gotten worse over a period of 8 years.
Actually it might be an adolescent thing because at some point it just stopped.
It's the battle scars and the pores that bother me.
Losing weight would be a blessing, but this diet doesn't seem to be up to par.
Seriously, I'm doing this just to prove myself that I can overcome my cravings. So give me strength!
Side note: On the diet, the thing that helped me most was not washing my face.
I just didn't wash it for days... Sounds gross, but it's absolutely true.
I sprayed it with rosewater morning and night and my skin was fabulous!
Another thing, the only time in my entire life that I ever had my acne clear up was when I came for a summer to live with my grandma.
You know how grandmas are, right?
It's Universal, they just fatten you up.
I ate nothing but goodies, some fruits from her garden but so little that they can't have made an impact. But mostly bread, soups, meat, meat, meat, bread, pasta etc. I stopped using cosmetics.
Another thing I did was, I swam in a nearby river almost every day.
And one day I looked in the mirror and my jaw dropped.
I looked like a covergirl ad, but of a fat model
My skin was foundation commercial worthy!!!
Basically, I think water has something to do with my skin being bad/good not so much diet.
What do you think?
Washing my face with a bottle is so unappealing... and when I put makeup on I need a shovel to scrape it off, rosewater won't do any good!
Any suggestions?
Silly Questions Segment:
1. How much should I walk? Please consider my laziness, me going to school, working and having a life.
2. Yoga good? Cardio bad?
3. Sleep seems uber important. What's ideal sleeping range?
4. How to remove the makeup? Is it even worth to put it on?
5. Another thing, when I lived with my grandma she made me wash my face with baking soda morning, night. I'm not sure if I did it or lied about it; was too young to remember. Would that harnest such amazing results? What was it then?! Was the river flowing with a magic serum?!
I love you if you read all this and survived.

Too many questions!
That your skinny bf eats more is because he spends more energy (even if it doesn't seem like it).
Eating when you're hungry takes care of the energy needs of your body and satisfies the need for addictive substances. More energy can be used right away without being converted into body fat.
Walk as much as you want. Half an hour?
Ideal sleep range seems between 7 and 9 hours, so kind of normal.

Re: Ellen's Diet Rantings
You only did the Wai diet for 2 weeks, and not very strictly.ellen wrote: I have lost 0 pounds. Not even a 0.01 of a pound.
It is a little too short time to expect major weight loss.
It might be thatellen wrote: Since I started eating "normal" for the past 3 weeks,

even after only two weeks on the Wai diet, you learned to listen
more to your energy needs, and less to your stomach hunger.
This will cause you to eat smaller meals, even when not on the
strict Wai diet, at least for a while. This might be why you eat smaller
meals than before and loose some weight.
It is possible to loose weight on only McDonalds burgers and fries, as
long as you keep the meals small and frequent, and the total energy
input less than the total energy output. It is much easier too do
this with fruits however, as they contain no appetite enhancers or
addictive substances.

I do both yoga and cardio workouts. Non of them is good for weight loss

you feel better doing it, if it does not matter, I would skip it.

Baking soda is often used as a facial cleaner for people with acne and
oily skin, and it might treat the symptoms, but not the cause. Also, it
is rather hard on the skin, as is most facial cleansers. Stick to water/
rosewater, and cocnut oil if you need protection.
Good luck and welcome back
Regarding make-up, there's a lot more info on the old forum

Wai Says to always remove your make-up with a make-up remover!

Sounds tempting ^_^It is possible to loose weight on only McDonalds burgers and fries
Yeah, I guess I'll skip those, at least until I'm happy with how my body looks and then maybe I could tone it. Either way, I hate cardio and yoga makes me feel awkward. I was making a resolution, when I lose the weight I'll sign up for kung-fu!Cardio workouts are good for building a strong heart, increase
your physical stamina, lung capacity and capillary veins. Yoga

And then I'll burst into random McDonald's and beat people up until they switch to Wai's diet!
That's anoter reason not to wear it thenI like girls without makeup
but flirting aside, so does my bf... He tells me I'm pretty when I have nothing on but I always thinks he's joking because my skin is hedious. But then when I have it on he says I'm pretty even though I have makeup on
I'm gonna use it until I feel confident enough to stop and then I will never use it again!
It'll be a personal victory!
And I use coconut oil and rosewater every day and nothing else!
Aren't you proud?
Thanks Fictor, you're the best
Ok,
So it's day 3.
My pants are loose.
My skin has literally closed the oil taps.
My face is no longer red.
I still have some persistent spots that won't leave,
but I remember the "transformation" of my face happened
somewhere after day 5-6, so I'll be waiting patiently.
I don't weigh myself 3 times a day like I used to,
I will at the end of the first week and I'll write it down.
Today I had a minor deviation. I ate sashimi and I dipped it in soya sauce because I couldn't eat the red tuna without it.
I also ate some lettuce, but doubt it's as lethal as the soya.
But other than that, I'm very proud of myself!
It's usually hard for me to stick to a diet more than 2 days
But today is actually easier!
I eat normally like this:
7:30-8: bowl of strawberries +some mac nuts
9:00: grapefruit (or half, the other half I eat an hour later because I'm full)+ nuts
10:30: apple+nuts
12:30: my favourite thing apperantly, the salad with olive oil!
2:00: (i'm not as hungry as i am in the morning so i eat less frequently)
orange+nuts
4:00: peach+nuts
6:00: usually my last meal because then I'm home and I do absolutely nothing so I'm not hungry. I eat 3 organic egg yolks.
(7:00: If I feel like something really snack-like I eat bananas becuase they're really sweet, or sun-dried dates! Both are soooo good with nuts!!!)
And that's it.
And Iris, thanks!
I actually read that already, and I bought a St. Ives makeup remover.
But certain make-up and make-up removers ALWAYS aggrevated my acne,
even though Wai doesn't seem to think so. I felt like I had an allergic reaction to some of them, until I started using mineral powder and really expenssive foundation (like Vichy).
My usual routine is:
morning: Rosewater (then makeup)
evening: makeup remover+rosewater (I feel dirty after the makeup remover :S)+coconut oil [which I put on my hair too! you should try it, it's really good!)
night: rosewater
Yes, this is very fascinating... I'm sure.
Just documenting it!
Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong!
I was also considering making steak tartare, becuase I know an organic butcher shop where they don't freeze their meat.
Any advice on that?

I wouldn't wear mineral make-up; it's very harsh on your skin! See http://www.acneboard.com/AcneQandA/Forum2/000082.htmlAnd Iris, thanks!

I think with make-up it's realy important to read labels! I know, it sucks .
I'm still looking for an acceptable make-up remover myself. My skin gets easily irritated, so close to all make-up removers give me red irritated blemishes I'm now using an sample of Shu Uemura. It's very mild, and your face feels very clean after using it. But my mascara doesn't alsways come of that easy (I use waterproof mascara). It is ok, but I'm not 100% satisfied yet... But I'm only wearing make-up once in a while, when I feel like it. So I can actually last a long time with such an tiny sample bottle
I often use coconut oil on my hair as well, like a mask. Before washing it I rub it in my hair and wait a few hours. Then I wash it with saponified coconut oil. I'm very pleased with the results. It's absolutely the best shampoo I've ever had! And it costs next to nothing!
Yes, I read this as well.
But unfortunately this is one of the very few foundations that don't
make me break out. So I use it. And I trust the seller. She makes it herself! She also makes some cool Ance kits from natural ingredients I tried it and it was actually good! I liked the scrub ( though it's not really a scrub, it's just like an oatmeal type powder. It did wonders for my pores!)
http://www.faerieorganic.com/
I do want to try something else, because due to the oilyness of my skin it gets shiny and smudges. But since all of my friends are guys... they can't recomand a good foundation
And what is saponified coconut oil?
How's the diet going?

I haven't seen it anywhere. Maybe it's only sold in Europe. (I live in Torotno)I'm now using an sample of Shu Uemura.
My hair is very thin and silky. So I'm afraid to put it on as a mask if it has the same affect as conditioners. I rub it into my scalp and leave it for a few hours. I also use it pretty much on everythingI often use coconut oil on my hair as well, like a mask. Before washing it I rub it in my hair and wait a few hours. Then I wash it with saponified coconut oil.

There are foundations for oily and acne prone skin....I do want to try something else, because due to the oilyness of my skin it gets shiny and smudges.
Actually, it is sold in a lot of places in the US too:I haven't seen it anywhere. Maybe it's only sold in Europe. (I live in Torotno)I'm now using an sample of Shu Uemura.

Plus they have an US online shop:
http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/
It is a bit expensive though
Saponification is just the proces in which an oil is mixed with an alkali to produce soap. All soap is produced this way as far as I know. Check out ingredients lists, a lot of shampoo and soap contains some saponified coconut oil, but also a lot more rubbish. In my experience, less is better, so the less "extra"ingredients, the better it makes my hair look. And what is saponified coconut oil?
This is where I get mine: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organ ... _soaps.htm
How nice of you to ask Well, it's going ....... well. I wouldn't say optimal, but that takes some time with me. I first have to adapt, so now I eat some munch food once in a while. It isn't very satisfying though (the munch food that is)How's the diet going?
Great you're back, Ellen!

I would not make it a habit though
This sounds good, perhaps a little too little, but that depends on how active you are. Have you submitted it into the nutrient calculator?ellen wrote: I eat normally like this:

No, I'm not active at all. This sounds good, perhaps a little too little, but that depends on how active you are. Have you submitted it into the nutrient calculator?
The weather is constant snow storms, so there's not a lot to do.
I have an office job and when I come home I either study or read
My activity level summs up in me chasing the cat around, dancing in my underwear, taking the bus, walking on my hour break and taking random stairs.
Since you're a guy and probably not 5'2 like me, it would seem little.
But I eat until I'm full, and I get filled fast.
There's a nutrient calculator?!

I hear the original tartare has a lot of spices and wine in it?
I'd love to eat it with egg and salt if it'll taste just as good!
Have you made it yourself yet?

I use no spices or salt on it. If you have good quality meat it
needs no spices.
