to make a long story short, i've a wai-esque dieter, since about '03. energy management and will power always kept me from doing this diet hardcore. this diet has always helped with my acne (only a few spots) and skin texture, but i couldn't get myself completely clear on it, due to my own fault.
anyway, just a few quick questions/concerns...
on the nutritional calculator, it says my daily rda for energy is 3000kcal.
is that the number i need to be at. is there any leeway? eg would 2500kcal be sufficient?
it seems like half of my energy is coming from olive oil (1400kcal). is that normal?
what's with my teeth being all sore from the juicing? does this go away eventually?
has anyone noticed increased sensitivity (w/ regard to acne) to munch food, after being clean for a few weeks?
thanks in advance.

Re: back from hiatus
It seems teeth problems are the biggest problem with this diet. A lot of people on this board, included me, are battling with mild to severe teeth and gun problems.rafaelo wrote:what's with my teeth being all sore from the juicing? does this go away eventually?
Please research tooth care and possible changes in diet to save yourself
a lot of money and painful hours in the dentist chair.

What do you consider 'a lot'?fictor wrote: A lot of people on this board, included me, are battling with mild to severe teeth and gun problems.

I should have been more specific.johndela1 wrote:What do you consider 'a lot'?fictor wrote: A lot of people on this board, included me, are battling with mild to severe teeth and gun problems.
I really do not have time to go through all old posts, but as far as I
can remember it is at the very least 5-6 others than myself who
have complained about tooth and/or gum problems. I consider that
a lot, taken into consideration how few of the members of this forum
that are actually active users and follow the Wai diet to the point.
Feel free to disagree, but keep in mind that the teeth-thread is one
of the longest threads on the forum. That should mean something.
Before I discovered my tooth problems I wouldrafaelo wrote: what does your diet consist of?
typically eat 2 egg yolks and 50 grams of tuna or salmon a day,
lots of bananas, some orange juice, pineapple, apples
and other fruits like mango, kiwi and pears. And
of course olive oil, and coconut oil. Sometimes carrot.
Sometimes avocado, tomato cucumber salad. No munch
foods. A little honey.
Now I eat more avocado carrot, tomato and cucumber,
no juice, some banans, raisins and figs for calcium,
some oyster, a little more eggyolk and/or seafood.
My meals are slightly bigger and less frequent, but
I still eat no munch food. I am also starting a raw
cod liver oil and a centrifuged butter oil (which would
be my only munch food, except the carrots]
I still have blackheads and some whiteheads, butrafaelo wrote: and what is your acne status, if you dont mind me asking?
the painful and shameful time of big zits is no more than a
painful memory
Not for acne, no. I only had anti biotics once, when I was aboutrafaelo wrote: were you on any antibiotics in the past?
4 years old or something.
thanks, fictor.
your results sound similar to mine: blackheads and a few whiteheads, with no more big red ones. but i would cheat with occassional french fries, too much rice, and spicy mayo w msg for sushi.
i resorted to mandelic acid on my nose area to control breakouts, and bp above my chin area for breakouts, as well.
it helped a lot, with the usual side effects, of course: dry slightly colored skin, with the bp. but it let me be less strict.
what put me back on this diet to clean me up, was through the past couple years, my diet kept slipping away from a wai-esque diet, to a sushi diet with occassional fruits, to a "healthy" bodybuilder diet with whey protein.
it took about a month and a half, but then i got hit with an acne onslaught, which the two meds couldn't fight off anymore.
so i got off the meds and cleaned up wai style, which helped a lot, but knew it could not be sustainable for me: social eating, juicing teeth issues etc
i've stopped juicing for the past week and my sore teeth problem has gone away.
one last thing:
does your diet give you the rda requirement for energy?
i had a tough time getting there w/o a large quantity of OO

I easily meet the RDA for energy without juice, yes. But as Oscar
says, it is different for different people, and I think mine is a good deal
higher than the RDA, because I am still slowly loosing weight without
really trying or wanting to.
I visited the dentist today. My enamel is damaged on the outside of my
teeth, especially in the front of my mouth, so he said it very well might
be from fruit/juice acids.
