Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
What exactly did you eat in the 6 years?
A tundra where will we be without trees? Thannnks!
Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
Raw, grass - fed dairy products are included too?JeffC wrote:I would say that the Price diet emphasizes natural foods that are high in fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K2) and essential minerals, because they aid dental health (and overall health). Seafood, meats, liver, egg yolks, grass-fed butter. Coconut or olive oil as well. None of those foods violate Wai rules if they haven't been overheated.
Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
The science has shown that it's clearly a bad idea for people who eat a standard bad diet and are using commercial milk and supplements in order to get that much.Kasper wrote:Weston Price also recommends around 1500 mg of calcium daily. That surely doesn't go hand in hand with the Wai diet.
So what are your thoughts about that ?
I think that the Price response would be that the higher calcium intake on a raw natural diet (mostly from raw dairy or soft bones) is accompanied by necessary bone-supporting vitamin A/D/E/K/magnesium/etc. And there's also fewer causes of calcium excretion (like soda, caffeine/drugs, phytic acid, fluoride).
My calcium intake isn't quite that high.
They're strongly against commercial, pasteurized dairy products but are conditionally supportive of raw dairy. But there are a lot of 'ifs' involved.Emeira wrote:Raw, grass - fed dairy products are included too?
If it's not pasteurized.
If it's not homogenized.
If it doesn't have antibiotics.
If it doesn't have rBGH.
If it's organic.
If it's grass fed.
If your body tolerates it.
If you can obtain it legally.
THEN they accept some raw dairy. Personally, I don't bother with it.
Here's my timeline.Aytundra wrote:What exactly did you eat in the 6 years?
Age 1-22: Ate standard junk because I didn't know better.
Age 23: Became interested in nutrition.
Age 24: Found Wai and adopted it because of its scientific approach.
I experimented with other foods but, in general, my diet was:
-Orange juice + olive oil + sugar
-Dates + coconut oil
-Salmon + tomato
-Egg yolks.
3000 calories. Macros were 52% carb, 43% fat, 5% protein.
Age 27: First sign of problems: tooth decay. I also noticed that I had to slightly increase the number of calories to maintain, but I (incorrectly) thought it was because I'm so active.
Age 29: By this time my caloric needs were rising above 4000. Also experienced depression and brain fog.
Age 30: Waipocalypse. I was losing weight (down to 118 lb), so I ultimately went over 5000 calories/day. Bad tooth decay, wounds not healing, Candida overgrowth, and osmotic diarrhea. Realized diet needed to change immediately. All roads in the search for help led to Weston Price. Cutting the sugar solved all of the problems. With 'Price foods' (animals and coconut oil, basically) I was easily able to gain weight/muscle and could maintain at 2800 calories.
Age 31: Started intermittent fasting. And my diet now is as I've said...
-Fish + tomato
-Potato + butter
-Chicken liver + ground beef + coconut oil + tomato + egg yolk.
2600 calories. Macros are 60% fat, 20% carb, 20% protein.

Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
JeffC, do you eat all animal foods (Chicken liver, ground beef) raw?
Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
When I was at 3000 calories (in 2009):Aytundra wrote:How much (g/ml etc.) orange juice, olive oil, sugar, dates, coconut oil, salmon, tomatoes, and yolks on average?
72 oz orange juice
8 tbsp olive oil
56 g sugar
3 Medjool dates
1-2 tbsp coconut oil
2 oz salmon
2 roma tomatoes
2 egg yolks
small amount of raisins
Later I added some more protein and much more juice/sugar. (Discussed in detail previously.)
I run them in a dehydrator for about an hour, because I think they taste better that way.Emeira wrote:JeffC, do you eat all animal foods (Chicken liver, ground beef) raw?
RRM says dehydrators are acceptable: "In my experience, 70 degrees celsius is not a problem."
I don't have a problem with eating them raw. At one point I was doing 12 egg yolks per day with no issues.
You've got me thinking about how much fructose I'm getting in total. All of these small amounts of fructose from various sources might be adding up to a significant amount. Let's math!Aytundra wrote:Potatoes have Fructose?
Potato 1: 408 mg
Potato 2: 408 mg
Potato 3: 408 mg
Potato 4: 408 mg
Tomato A: 1743 mg
Tomato B: 1872 mg
Yolk 1: 12 mg
Yolk 2: 12 mg
Yolk 3: 12 mg
---
5.283 g fructose. Pretty low, but I really want to minimize this number. When I was drinking orange juice just a few months ago, I was at about 20 g fructose, and my body rejected it noticeably. But, I don't want to give up the tomato. Tomorrow I'll try halving Tomato B and see how that tastes.
Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
JeffiC, what is your pre/post workout meals?
mentioned that you had candida, what exact symptoms did you noticed?

Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
Pre-workout: nothing.Emeira wrote:JeffiC, what is your pre/post workout meals?
Post-workout: everything.
I work out fasted. I wait 30-60 minutes after I'm finished and then I start my 3 hours of eating.
A lot of them. I didn't realize it until I noticed the coating on my tongue. I had fatigue, depression, irritability, brain fog, cravings, clearing throat, gastrointestinal issues, minor skin issues, minor respiratory issues, losing weight, feeling cold.Emeira wrote:mentioned that you had candida, what exact symptoms did you noticed?
The problems went away after I removed all sugar from my diet.
I experienced a week of 'die-off' (my body purging the toxins). It was the lowest emotional point of my life.
Half of Tomato B was tolerable, but I felt some emptiness without all of it. It makes it taste so much better. The difference between 4.347 g and 5.283 g of fructose isn't a big deal.JeffC wrote:5.283 g fructose. Pretty low, but I really want to minimize this number. Actually, I could maybe do without Tomato A. I shall try that as well.

I've taken some time to read through your posts. {Likes them, they are very interesting!}
Few questions:
Did you ever track sleep?
How many hours do you sleep? Accurate to 15 min if possible; per version if possible.
Do you have the approximate ---- sugar : fat : protein ---- ratios per version.
So it seems like you have tried these versions,
(correct me if I am wrong, i've guessed some versions based on the train of thoughts in your posts):
j) Boiled potato version + High fat & animal meat version + warrior
i) Dextrose version + High fat & animal meat version + warrior
h) Oj + Some fruit + High fat & animal meat version + warrior
g) Low Fruit + Low yolk + High fat & animal meat version
f) Low Fruit + High fat & animal meat version
e) Fruit + High fat & animal meat version
d) High sugar + High fat & animal meat version
c) High sugar + More coconut oil version
b) High sugar (30tbsp) + 2009 version
a) 3000 calorie, 2009 version

Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
If we were to graph unhealthiness on X and temperature on Y, I don't think it would be a 1.0 correlation. A strong positive correlation, yes, but not absolutely 1.0.Oscar wrote:"Acceptable" of course doesn't mean ideal, so it all depends on what your health standards are.JeffC wrote:RRM says dehydrators are acceptable...
This idea worked. Just a little tomato with fish is good. So I reduced Tomato A by -90%. That brings my daily fructose level down to only 3.714 g. (Not counting sucrose, which is about 1.3 g.)JeffC wrote:Actually, I could maybe do without Tomato A. I shall try that as well.
I start eating the fish while I prepare the potatoes.Aytundra wrote:How do you eat your potatoes?
How do you eat your dinner?
I cut the potatoes in half, stab the center, and boil.
After they're done and I've cut the skins off, I start dehydrating the meats.
Eating the potatoes takes about an hour. Then I move right on to the meats for another hour.
During this time I get to relax and watch videos.
Most of the time I've slept 7-8 hours.Aytundra wrote:Did you ever track sleep?

I try to get 7.5 hours because it's five 90-minute cycles.
Here's how I'd classify them, simplified to some degree.Aytundra wrote:So it seems like you have tried these versions
1. Wai regular (2007-2012). 3000 -> 3999 calories. OJ+OO+sugar, dates+CO, fish+tomato, yolks.
52% carb, 43% fat, 5% protein.
2. Waipocalypse (2012-2013). 4000 -> 5000 calories. Same foods. 96 oz OJ + 30 tbsp sugar = 464 g sucrose + 76 g fructose.
55% carb, 38% fat, 7% protein.
3. Weston Price anti-Candida (2013-2014). 2800 calories. Fish, chicken liver, beef+butter+tomato, strawberries+CO.
3% carb, 76% fat, 21% protein.
4. Wai Warrior/OJ test (April-July 2014). 2700 calories. Add OJ + yolks.
16% carb, 62% fat, 22% protein.
5. Wai Warrior/Dextrose test (July-August 2014). 2600 calories. Replace OJ and strawberries with dextrose.
31% carb, 51% fat, 18% protein.
6. Wai Warrior/Potato champion (August 2014-Present). 2600 calories. Fish, potato+butter, chicken liver, beef+CO+tomato+yolks.
19% carb, 61% fat, 20% protein.
Weight range has been 118 lb (weak muscles) to 139 lb (skinny-fat look). I'm 124 lb currently (stronger muscles and cut the fat).

JeffC in your opinion, how safe is coconut oil?
What do you think of this study of coconut oil on mitochondrial damage?:

Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
This kind of study is why saturated fat and coconut oil previously had a bad reputation. The study is from 1997, which was still around the early stages of serious study of trans fats. The coconut oil used was refined and hydrogenated. It's little surprise that it caused liver damage, because trans fats damage the liver.Aytundra wrote:JeffC in your opinion, how safe is coconut oil?

Coconut oil is possibly the healthiest food there is.
"A diet enriched in saturated fatty acids offers strong advantages for the protection against oxidative stress in heart mitochondria." Lemieux
In terms of deliciousness? Absolutely. Dates with coconut oil are marvelous. But each 66-calorie Medjool has 16.0 g total sugar / 7.7 g of fructose.Aytundra wrote:Did Coconut Oil pair well with sugar intake? Dates + CO?
I've used coconut oil for many years and it has been entirely beneficial. Throughout all of the changes, I've always kept coconut oil.Aytundra wrote:Did you have any adverse reactions like Iris to Coconut Oil paired with fruits (or sugar)?

Re: JeffC the extreme ninja warrior
While researching, I discovered Lawrence Wilson's writings.
Wilson is another modern-day Weston Price disciple, like the WAPF, Bee Wilder, and Ramiel Nagel.
Wilson has some interesting twists, challenging mainstream thinking.
Such as completely avoiding fruit and fructose in favor of mostly veggies and animals.
I'm intrigued and will investigate his ideas further.
