Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many waters)
I just came across this site that some may find useful in determining the mineral content of different waters from around the world: http://www.mineralwaters.org/
RRM, What exactly constitutes low mineral content in water? Could you provide us with the minimum requirements?
Would this be considered low, moderate or high:
Acidity (PH) 7.3
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) 18 mg/l
Calcium (Ca++) 1.3 mg/l
Magnesium (Mg++) 0.6 - 1.2 mg/l
Sodium (Na+) 3.8 mg/l
Bicarbonate (HCO3-) 5.8 mg/l
Chloride (Cl-) 3.5 mg/l
Sulphate (SO4--) 3.4 mg/l

Excellent!
Thank you for that very useful link

Yes, thats a low mineral water.Seth wrote:Would this be considered low, moderate or high:

Regarding the what range of levels is considered low (to moderate), here are some examples of other low- to moderately-low mineral waters:What exactly constitutes low mineral content in water?

There is a new brand of low-mineral water here in Norway. It is called "Isklar", tastes good, is a little expensive, but not that expensive.
Here is a link to their webpage about the mineral content of Isklar.
They claim it to be very low-mineral. What do you guys think? Is it a good water?

It contains less minerals than Volvic. Since that is suppost to be a "good water" according to Wai, I guess this should be too?fictor wrote:There is a new brand of low-mineral water here in Norway. It is called "Isklar", tastes good, is a little expensive, but not that expensive.

Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
From a different thread:
Yes, its perfect.Goldrandy wrote: I live in Stockholm, and I couldn't find any of the waters that were listed in the book (Volvic, Montcalm etc.), but I did find a Norwegian one that is called "Imsdal". Here is what it contains:
mg/L
Calcium/Ca - 9,9
Sodium/Na - 0,9
Potassium/K - 0,5
Magnesium/Mg - 0,4
Bicarbonate/HCO3 - 31,2
Sulfat/SO4 - 2,9
Chloride/Cl - 0,6
Silisium/SiO2 - 7,0
pH: 7,5
Is this a low-mineral water?
Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
I have a bit of trouble here, all the bottled drinking water here is either natural spring water, evian glacier water, and reverse osmosis demineralized water sold from the giants coca-cola and pepsi, aquafina and dasani. This is what I been using to clean my face.. which I now know have a high mineral content although advertised as demineralized.
Aquafina
Acidity (PH) 7
Calcium (Ca++) 35 mg/l
Magnesium (Mg++) 22 mg/l
Sodium (Na+) 11 mg/l
Potassium (K+) 4 mg/l
Bicarbonate (HCO3-) 46 mg/l
Chloride (Cl-) 71 mg/l
Sulphate (SO4--) 8 mg/l
I actually recall seeing this brand Fiji around which is about double the price.
Acidity (PH) 7.5
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) 210 mg/l
Calcium (Ca++) 17 mg/l
Magnesium (Mg++) 13 mg/l
Sodium (Na+) 18 mg/l
Potassium (K+) 4.9 mg/l
Bicarbonate (HCO3-) 146 mg/l
Chloride (Cl-) 4.8 mg/l
Sulphate (SO4--) 1.3 mg/l
Fluoride (F-) 0.29 mg/l
Nitrate (NO3-) 0.62 mg/l
Silica (SiO2) 85 mg/l
Hardness 132
Conductivity 278 µS/cm
I guess I'll keep my eyes open too see what I can find.
Also I guess I was never 100% Wai then if this is what I been cleaning my face with...? so how much of an issue is this then, I guess it depends on the individual.
Aquafina

Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
It may have had some impact, but not that much, i think,waipete wrote: Also I guess I was never 100% Wai then if this is what I been cleaning my face with...?
since the contents are not that radical.
Yes, it depends indeed.so how much of an issue is this then, I guess it depends on the individual.
Its just that the low mineral waters are safe, and the others may cause (some) adverse effects, or not.
Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
Thanks RRM,
So which water would you prefer? the aquafina with more significantly more chloride and calcium, or the fiji with 61% more sodium?

Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
I would mix demineralized water with both aquatina and fiji.
Re: Mineral Water Site (Lists mineral contents of many water
Actually this site is wrong, in this case. The bottle lists it's contents and this is the difference it lists.Fiji

Creating Low Mineral Water
Can we mix half a gallon of spring water with half a gallon of distilled water to create low mineral water. Thanks
