mixing fats with fruits

Post by paulieGB »

Hello,

Does anyone worry about food combining ?
Fruits should be eaten alone,
acid fruits shouln't be mixed with sweet fruits
and Fats shouldn't be eaten with fruits.

Whats everyones take on this ?

Paul.

I did a few years ago, but not anymore. Some sweet and acid fruits make a realy good combination, according to my taste ;) So I let my senses guide me :). It might be that for someone else it does cause problems, but for me it's just fine.

I used to, too. I read Fit for Life and started practicing food combining before learning about the waidiet.

I'd like to see more research on food combining. Do you have any links that make a case for food combining. I've heard that it is something we should do and it even makes sense, but I haven't seen any scientific research.

Yes. No high fiber after high protein, to prevent bacterial decomposition of proteins (gasses)
Best protein after sugars / fats, to maximize uptake of amino acids for (re)construction purposes.
Fruits should be eaten alone,
Yes, but sweet fruits can be mixed. So can avocado with tomato and cucumber.
acid fruits shouln't be mixed with sweet fruits
fruits like oranges are both acidic and sweet.
and Fats shouldn't be eaten with fruits.
maybe not fatty foods, but you can perfectly mix orange juice with some oil.

I dont get this last one, RRM. Are you saying olive oil (or coconut oil for that matter) is not a "fatty food"?

fatty

[I think he is referring to pure fat/oil as opposed to solid foods with fat/oil as major constituents].

Every time I read the objections to fruit/fat combining, I take some cherry juice and douse it with olive oil and drink/sip some down; really, it's okay to combine them; I do it all the time; it is like being afraid of sugar ( or water, --- or air!) to be like this.

Yes, indeed. Some fatty foods (avocado, yolks, fish) dont combine so well with fruits, but if you simplify "the package" (oil instead of fatty food, or OJ instead of oranges), there is no problem.
Its about finding what foods combine well, and which dont.
In my opinion, the no-fat with fruits theory is over-simplified.
