Hmm. Water dilutes the gastric juices, making it harder to digest the food?
What about foods that contains a lot of water, like fruit, or even more so fruit juice?

Why are you trying to drink a certain amount of water every day? Why not just drink when you are thirsty instead of picking an arbitrary amount to drink?

If you are eating a lot of fruit you may not get thirst very often.

after eating wrongly for so long i deduced my natural body's wants are incorrect. if i listened to it then i would be eating junk food, so i decided that after i have increased my intake of water and eaten healthy for a significant time period i would be able to listen to my body's wants.

fruits may contain water which could dilute the acids, but drinking more water could dilute acids to the point that it affects digestion, but i honestly do not know. does anyone else have opinions?

I've heard from other raw foodists not to drink at least 15 minutes before a meal and until 30 minutes after. It makes sense to me on one level, but I also understand water does come with food or some times think our bodies are so smart we should be able to drink water and eat at the same time...

Now let me get back to my pringles and die coke

I think it is safe to listen to your thirst. Too much of something can be bad, too. Drinking the same arbitrary amount of water everyday isn't ideal. Your thirst will change based on the conditions.

yes, drinking water will change the conditions of your stomach.

If you mix acid with water, you will dilute the acid, in the stomach or not

I usually don't drink that much water, so it really isn't a problem for me. I usually eat meat and fish on an empty stomach.

Yes, with this (100% strict) diet you dont need any extra water.
And yes, drinking water while eating does dilute the gastric juices, and makes digestion a little harder. If you want to drink extra water, its best to drink it about 15 minutes before the meal.

Would it be very bad for digestion to have a few sips of water after a
meal, just to try and neutralize acids in the mouth?

I mean, sometimes its ok to just flush your mouth and spit, but
I doubt my co workers would love it if I sit at my desk, flushing
my mouth, spitting in a cup or something :)

Thanks for the reply RRM! I will get into the habbit of flushing with a sip or two of water after having had a fruit at my desk :)

Hopefully this will reduce the damage to my teeth from acids.

my dentist gave me a special anti-acid toothpaste; but he also said fruits shoudn't be a big deal, maybe he didn't know how much fruit I eat.

The anti acid toothpaste is most likely abrasive to your teeth, which
means it damages the enamel. You should use just water, or a
non-abrasive toothpaste (such as tooth soap).

And yes, eating the amounts of fruit we eat can very well damage the
enamel. Take care of your teeth by:

Use a straw if you drink juices
Make sure your fruits are ripe
Flush your mouth with water after eating
Buy a soft toothbrush and use the Bass Method when brushing
Use non-abrasive toothpaste, or none at all
Be sure to wait at least 1 hour after you eat before you brush

Good luck :)

Water makes significant role in digestion.
but you have to keep some distance between your lunch and water about half an hour.
