Will orange juice+raw yolks work alone!?
So I'm wondering, not for my sake but mainly for others that are on the 'outside' barrier, would a diet completely of fresh-pressed orange juice from quality ripe oranges, and raw egg yolks work as a good diet? Obviously it would be better to get more variety, I know, but if these two foods cover all the basic nutrient needs, it would be very helpful to have a 'simplified wai diet', the most simplified it can be to cover nutrients, but not be overbearing at first.
What nutrients would be lacking in a diet like this, if any, and would it still be better than the SAD diet?
Does anyone have an idea how many Liters of OJ to Egg yolks would be needed; like what the ratio would be? If we have a ratio it's easy to adjust for different needs of different people.
Thanks for your feedback!

For 2586 kcal, you would need 4 L of OJ and 12 egg yolks,
which seems the right ratio to me,
and which would supply you with enough for every nutrient,
except that the omega-3 contents would be a little bit on the low side,
with EPA totally missing (eicosapentaenoic acid; an omega-3 fat).
So, that alternating egg yolks with salmon, mackerel or tuna once a week would do the trick.
For more energy required, you just drink more OJ.
(the nutrient calculator is missing beta-carotene in OJ (33 mcg / 100 g).)

Well, now no one can make the excuse that the wai way is too complicated eh
I'm just curious, is there *any* foods that are as well rounded as oranges or raw eggs? which ones come close? and by this obviously I mean excluding ones that have dangers when consumed in high amounts, or dangers or inability to digest at all like non wai foods. And besides mothers milk

Is there a way of knowing which nutrients in OJ would be most affected by pasteurization?
Re: Will orange juice+raw yolks work alone!?
in my mind store bought OJ isn't good at all. it's old and rancid and pasteurized and euck. but maybe that's just mee

A little time ago I was really angry about some orange juice I had. Too acidic.
So I let it taste too a housemate, telling him that I couldn´t believe people sell such acidic oranges.
He told me: Dude, this is tasting far more better than those orange juice from concentrate I have. Don't complain
Re: Will orange juice+raw yolks work alone!?
You have to let the oranges ripen for like a week. I agree, it's f%@(*ng annoying they sell so soon. But I guess soon is better than too late, as you can't go backwards in time
My cloning idea would address this see General Discussion forum

Haha, yes our taste changes pretty quickly, and we become far more sensitive to what's good and what's not.
Adding some sugar can help a bit with the taste.

What would the iodide content be of such a diet?
Wouldn't that be too low?
Or is there enough iodide in egg yolk ?

Re: Will orange juice+raw yolks work alone!?
65 mcg
Thats pretty good.
Iodide RDA (150 mcg) is quite high, due to the public fear for goiter.
(one would have to eat 220 g. of tuna daily to get to that level,
or iodide-enriched bread)

Re: Will orange juice+raw yolks work alone!?
would a diet of OJ, yolks and fish be safe as a long term diet, without any variance?

Yes, perfectly.

In my mind bananas are better, but you can't juice them. Plug equal caloric values into the calculator and you will see.panacea wrote:I'm just curious, is there *any* foods that are as well rounded as oranges?
I do so like green eggs and ham. Thank you, thank you. Sam I am.

Mangoes are great also, and mango juice is delicious.
Actually, you can juice very/over ripe bananas in a slow juicer;
its just that little juice is generated (about 30% in my experience, depending on the ripeness)

That's what I meant. It's not at all cost effective. I just eat them whole. It does change the energy reading situation, though. My guess is that if I were to substitute bananas for oranges, one medium every half hour or so would be fine for me. That and 250g of avocado plus 60g of salmon would be a perfect day, hypothetically.RRM wrote:its just that little juice is generated (about 30% in my experience, depending on the ripeness)
