I still don't understand energy, in terms of nutrition..
for example, if you magically got all your amino acids, vitamins, omega fats, macro and trace minerals, all that stuff, without anything else added - you would still be lacking energy, right?
and its my guess that you can satisfy this last nutritional requirement by drinking only olive oil,
or consuming pure sugar?
what is the difference between the two and is that all there is to it?

Some essential reading:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbohydrate_metabolism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatty_acid_metabolism
In the end they both end up in the same Krebs cycle, but the ways to get to it are different for carbs and fats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krebs_cycl ... _TCA_cycle

Indeed, different pathways.
And, they are controlled by different control systems.
Its like a hybrid car, that can run on 2 diffrent types of fuel at the same time,
and some parts of the car best run on fuel 1, whereas other parts are primarily designed to run on fuel 2,
but either one is good enouigh.
