But not in the way you might think...
Wouldn't it be feasible to use cloning, once advances have been made, to clone say, quality oranges and eggs, and bring them to maturity faster, in a controlled setting without the worries of nematodes, etc. They could have something such as 2,000 different strands of eggs (for the yolks) and oranges just to keep a little nutritional and bacterial variety, and still encourage the bacterial development not sanitize it. In this way we could possibly achieve much much higher yields of top quality foods in smaller spaces, right in the middle of town without the transportation cost and decreased quality from picking before ripe, etc!
Seems like a good idea to me, do you guys have any thoughts, or anyone know the inside scoop on cloning? I don't think the religious groups would mind this too much, as we aren't messing with animals, but rather trying to feed ourselves and the poor nations better quality food.

I foresee a great future in cloning for you, panacea!
