Oysters contain high levels of zinc which is known to increase testosterone levels.
I would like to find natural ways to increase T levels/strength and supplementing my diet with oysters seems like a decent idea.
My question: how often can you eat oysters and avoid zinc poisoning?
Oysters, zinc, athletic performance

Your body naturally wants the right level of zync.
If you consume more zinc, the body will decrease the absorption rate accordingly.
If you consume WAAAAAY more zinc (eg by regularly consuming oysters), the body may not be able to compensate for that by decreasing the absorption rate accordingly.
This increased level of zinc is not voluntary, and this may have adverse effects, so maybe its not such a good idea to up your zinc level.

Too much of metals like iron, copper, cobalt, manganese and zinc is pro-oxidative (1), damaging nutrients, arteries (2) messenger-substances, cell-DNA (3) and enzymes (4), increases hart attack risk, and can cause diabetes (5), colon cancer (6) Parkinson's disease (7) and infertility. (8 )
Not that much; 8 to 66 microgram / 100 gram.Oscar wrote:I seem to remember oysters are also very high in selenium.
rrm: thanks for responding man
i like consuming the oysters because I have great workouts when I eat them, they increase energy levels, and make aggresion increase.
heavy weightlifitng is known to decrease zinc levels, in fact a lot of highly trained athletes have low zinc, wouldnt regurlary consuming oysters be positive for someone doing intense exercises?
