Fish in All Languages

Post by coconutty »

Today in my Communication theory class, the professor said there is a kind of fish that there is a word for in all languages (including in areas which are currently deserts.

Guess what kind of fish it is?

But then again; salmon is not the kind of fish present in homo erectus' natural habitat, or that of homo sapiens...

How do you define natural habitat?

We are part of nature and are in our natural habitat everywhere we are. We are still adapting and spreading around like other animals.

I mean are Eskimos in the native habitat if they live in the Arctic? These people have physical adaptations to deal with that environment.

Some races are adapted to be near the poles (fair skin), some are adapted to live near the equator (dark skin).

Thats true, but then again, to what extend is that the habitat we thrive in?
If sole survival is what determines what our natural habitat is, then you are completely right.
We might also reason that our natural habitat is where we thrive.

Where would we thrive? In a place where we have access to sweet fruits and animal food together?

Didn't they find that (a tribe of) Homo Sapiens also lived on the coast of East Africa and consumed lots of fish? Or was that Homo Sapiens Sapiens?
