Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
Hi all,
Been on this diet for the past seven or so years off and on; mostly on. It has helped me with my acne problem significantly and I am very grateful for that!
I would like to get someones thoughts or advice on a few health issues that I have. Three months ago I fell ill from what I now know is a stomach ulcer. Felt very nauseous, fatigued and stomach issues as a result. I was prescribed acid blockers (omeprazole) that I started taking a month ago, I have stopped taking the pills because I heard that they inhibit proper digestion, I'm wondering if this is the right thing to do? Should I perhaps reduced the amount of OJ that I drink?
Also, I suffered from an infected tooth about a month ago that spread into my blood stream which probably added to the nausea and agitated feeling I had already been experiencing. I've had the tooth taken care last week with a root canal but had to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Since the tooth issue I feel my body has taken a step back!! The nausea and stomach issues are back and come and go throughout the day. Is it possible that the poison from the tooth infection is still in my blood stream and hasn't worked it's way out? Have the antibiotics ruined my tummy?
Thanks for any advice!
Jay

Re: Stomach ulcer and then some
I think bad teeth - or one bad tooth - is something to watch out against. Because I have read that they can in the long run cause heart problems. Search bad teeth heart attack on google for example and choose which source you find reliable.. I just choose randomly: http://www.physorg.com/news140292034.html
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/130539.php here about possible connection bad breath (often bad teeth, gums, tongue debris etc.) and stomach ulcers..
I chose these articles on google and without much prior searching, so please if you're interested, dig deeper..
That's the only thing I can contribute with.
I think it makes sense that one thing might have contributed to the other.
Also I guess once you have an ulcer it is hard to make it go.. even if you take away the thing that caused it. But perhaps there are some Wai suggestions too!

Re: Stomach ulcer & infected tooth
Yes, ignoring a bad tooth can have severe effects.
You noticed the bad tooth effects about a month ago, but the decay started way before, naturally
Has the bad tooth been fixed totally?
Vitamin C seems to reduce its activity.

My advice is to have your blood tested for the effects of the infection.
And maybe they can get a stomach sample to test?
Please see a specialist for this.

Due to the bacteria involved in the infection (Helicobacter pylori), causing the stomach ulcer.Wiki wrote:Trauma to the mouth is a common cause of ulcers.

Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
Great, thanks for the response. I do understand there may be a link between tooth and stomach. I have researched that extensively and also had a root canal procedure done on the tooth. I no longer feel discomfort with my tooth and the antibiotics seem to have taken care of the infection. I will have some more blood work done very soon but I find it hard to believe that this misery that i'm still feeling is linked to my tooth. I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac but i'm also investigating if I might have a Candida issue.
What is most troublesome besides my constant stomach discomfort is the anxiety/depression i'm experiencing. Could it be linked to my stomach? I get this agitated feeling in my head for no reason! It is so unbearable sometimes that I'm forced to take a Xanax. I never had this problem before the ulcer and tooth infection. I stopped ingesting the eggs when my health troubles started then slowly reincorporated them back into my diet. I think I started feeling mentally better as a result of taking the eggs but then stopped the eggs because of the antibiotics I started taking three weeks ago. Is it safe to start eating raw eggs again?

Probably; I get in the same mood whenever my allergy appears. It's more annoying than painful, I guess it's similar to your problem. What was that saying, "in healthy body healthy mind"..Leno wrote: What is most troublesome besides my constant stomach discomfort is the anxiety/depression i'm experiencing. Well, candida indeed can be caused by...Leno wrote:...the antibiotics seem to have taken care of the infection... i'm also investigating if I might have a Candida issue.
taking antibiotics...
Please have it checked (whether you have candida, or not).
Absolutely. What is most troublesome besides my constant stomach discomfort is the anxiety/depression i'm experiencing. Could it be linked to my stomach?

You shouldnt have, as your defense was already used to taking the eggs.stopped the eggs because of the antibiotics
Only if you were to start this diet, the antibiotics would make it difficult.
Now you have to start all over again, by carefully upping the dose.Is it safe to start eating raw eggs again?
(from 1 teaspoon / day to 2 / day etc)
Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
Thanks again for all your replies! I've exhaustively researched why, still after months of getting my tooth fixed and even more months since discovering an ulcer, I am feeling these neuro issues. The only thing the doctors can link it to is a b12 deficiency that I've apparently had for quite some time, perhaps over a year. Tests are scheduled next week to determine if the low b12 levels are due to pernicious anemia, my bodies inability to absorb b12 properly because of a lack of intrinsic factor. Started b12 shots a few weeks ago and feeling a little better. In the case of pernicious anemia, I understand that this is a lifelong issue, is this true or just another way for drug companies to make money? Is there a way to increase intrinsic factor?
Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
since it's a malabsorption problem, of course it's not a helpless lifelong issue, it just is for people who don't know how to fix it. Of course, I don't know exactly what the best method would be, but a good all around approach, by using the wai diet 100%, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, not doing anything like alcohol, smoking, etc, relieving stress in your life etc. To target your problem specifically, you need to get a sublingual vitamin b12 source (as well as other b vitamin sublinguals). This is because, to absorb b-12 (and a lot of other touchy things), you need to have good stomach acid levels. Well, unfortunately, stomach acid levels depend on having b-12 and other b-vitamins! So it's a vicious circle.

Please let us know the results.Leno wrote:Tests are scheduled next week to determine if the low b12 levels are due to pernicious anemia, my bodies inability to absorb b12 properly because of a lack of intrinsic factor.
Its usually caused by long term inflammation of the stomach mucosa, and if you dont take away the cause, it will definitely be a lifelong issue. In the case of pernicious anemia, I understand that this is a lifelong issue, is this true or just another way for drug companies to make money?
However, the body has remarkable recovery capacities, so that if you are able to take away the cause, you may be able to recover.
Sure, by enabling the recovery of the parietal cells, by taking away the cause of the stomach mucosa inflammation. Is there a way to increase intrinsic factor?
You will need to listen to your stomach extremely carefully; what it likes, and what not.
Im guessing your stomach had to produce way too much gastric acid leading to exhaustion,
or maybe an oversensitivity to hot spices or similar.
Did you use to eat a lot of spicy food? Drink a lot of alcohol?
Any other remarkable dietary habits? Medicin/drug use?
Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
As of this past weekend started a daily dose of approximately 1000 mcg of Methyl B12. I've read that this type of B12 is the best and could help repair any nerve damage as a result of lacking B12 for over a year (extremely low the past 5 months.) I suffered from intense head agitation and depression from this, felt lifeless and suicidal (I have never experienced this before!) I thought it was maybe a lack of cholesterol but despite downing many egg yolks on a regular basis it wasn't helping.panacea wrote:you need to get a sublingual vitamin b12
I will!RRM wrote:Please let us know the results.
I don't eat that much spicy food and when I do my stomach seems to tolerate it just fine. Regarding alcohol consumption, I don't drink that often, perhaps a good drowning of wine or tequila once every three weeks or so. I have noticed that when I do drink I don't get that "happy buzz" anymore and usually feel some slight discomfort instead, I will watch this. Perhaps switching to a different alcohol? Or are they all the same? Regardless, no booze for me for a while.RRM wrote:Im guessing your stomach had to produce way too much gastric acid leading to exhaustion,

I rarely smoke Marijuana, but it's worth noting that I have taken a couple hits over the past few months and it seemed to aggravate the situation.
I'm now keeping a daily record of what I eat and how I feel. B12 shots and lozenges seem to be helping, I just need to remain patient and hope I get back to my normal self.
Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
Yes, alcohol is alcohol, regardless of the source.Leno wrote:Perhaps switching to a different alcohol? Or are they all the same? Regardless, no booze for me for a while.
I would strongly advice against using any alcohol at all.
Re: Infected tooth & Stomach ulcer
I got my labs back and am very concerned about a few findings. Regarding the b12 deficiency issue, my levels are up as a result of taking sublinguals and shots for the past two and a half weeks. The depression and head agitation has been reduced significantly although it is not gone completely yet, from what I've read this could take months for these symptoms to go away completely. Also, pressure in the back of my head has reduced along with the stuffiness in my ears, but again not gone completely. I have been getting injected with 1000 mcg of Methycobalamin and 1000 mcg of Folic Acid. A few things that I haven't been able to shake are the bouts of intermittent nausea and fatigue. I will continue to monitor this and I may need to make some diet changes and possibly get off the Wai diet, of course with regret as I still suffer from acne.
My labs showed a high IgE of 325 and an allergen panel revealed I have food sensitivities to Tomato: 3.42 kU/L, Orange: 2.36 kU/L (this was the biggest surprise,) Apple: 3.21 kU/L. I may have sensitivities to other fruits as this panel was not comprehensive. I don't understand why my body would show allergen activity to every fruit and vegetable on this specific panel: Corn, Peanut, Tomato, Carrot, Orange, Potato, Strawberry and Apple. Could the reactions be because of the sugars in the fruits? I am at a total loss, I thought fruits were perfectly safe!! I'm going to have a more comprehensive food intolerance/sensitivity done next week.
I would love to maintain this diet but this fruit food sensitivity has me believing that it's causing my stomach and general health problems. I couldn't possibly live off of protein and fat alone could I?

Wow, thats too bad...
So, i suspect that there is something off with your defense system.
I advice you to see a specialist.
I suspect that one would find an allergic response to virtually any food tested.I don't understand why my body would show allergen activity to every fruit and vegetable on this specific panel:
