Post by Aytundra »

August 15, 2014
Woke at 5:36am (thinks lighter dinner caused that)
2 pears
1 yolk
finished the remainder of a not exactly book, and took a nap.

10 walnuts (regular breakfast time)
1 peach
1 cucumber
250ml8tbspsugarwater

250mlwater ~5.5tbspremaining
1 orange

6 pieces salmon 2.5 x 6 x 0.8 cm (I measured with a measuring tape, different restaurant, I think I have exhausted the stores around me. I know which ones are most expensive.)

250mlwater ~3.5tbspremaining
1 cooked mackerel
2 tomatoes

1 cup of watermelon
---
Yesterday's diary entry was written by taste aytundra, today's entry was written by crave aytundra.
She ignored everything that taste aytundra thought.
This is what happens when crave aytundra gets to shop with raw aytundra, ignoring economic aytundra's budget or the pantry & fridge's stock.
Raw aytundra is only permitted to buy Wai items. Crave aytundra can eat whatever she really wants.
It is really hard to try to listen to yourself and what your body really wants.
But at the end of the day, I was a little bit surprised, that the food worked well.
The volume and content were not too shabby compared to the RDA.

(2.5.12) was actually by design; Careful planning with the calculator and time allocation to increase volume and nutrition evenly.
That day failed taste aytundra's expectations.
(2.9.16) was by the whims of crave aytundra, taste aytundra liked it all, except for the cucumber, cucumbers have an aftertaste of cucumberiness sort of like tomatoeyness. Synaesthesia aytundra does not like cucumber's either because it has blue letters, but that is trivial, the colour of words really do not affect food, but act as a helpful mnemonic device.

Today should have been (2.9.16), but the cooked mackerel threw a wrench on my notation system,
I was struggling with sorites' paradox, or the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Did the cooked fish count on my tally, or the fact that it was heated made it unWai?
Why are slow cooked foods okay? Maybe they are not. And they are not.
Why are egg whites cooked okay? Maybe they are not.
The mackerel I heated in a pan with avocado oil and turned off the heat to let it bake. Was it slow cooked or was it too hot?...
What makes it unWai?
All items bought were listed in the calculator. Raw aytundra did not break her purchasing rule.

I decided it was not worthy of a Wai day notation (2.9.16).
Because I cooked the mackeral, hence I really broke a rule of raw aytundra's belief.
But one can argue from the perspective that this is a Wai day, since I really tried hard to listen to what foods my body wanted and provided the opportunity to obtain them.
But another can argue that it has to include all aspects of the puzzle, and trying is not enough. Listening is only a portion of the equation, the heat treatment of foods is also part of the equation, and still needs to be added.

The question is not: Why are you here Aytundra?
The real question is: Why do you believe it enough to endure the diet?
What makes it enough to believe it, and not go for something a bit easier?
like semi-slow cooked fish... n+1..., 1 bite (2.7.14)[15cm^3], 2 bite (2.8.15) [16cm^3], then 1 fish (2.9.16)[400g],...
(sorry dime it was not 1 fish, 2 fish and a deer...) :wink:
What heaps too much garbage to call something unWai?
What makes the item that that breaks my notation?

250ml8tbspsugarwater
4 bites steamed egg whites

3 oranges
1.5 tomatoes
250mlwater ~5.5tbspremaining

0.5 tomatoes
10 walnuts
250mlwater ~3.5tbspremaining
1 yolk
---
- I was in a rush, I didn't eat much for breakfast, for the next 7-8 hours I had to run on that 1 cup of water and few bites of egg whites.
- throat felt parched after eating a few bites of overcooked steamed egg whites.
- it could be that I didn't get enough liquids/liquid foods in the morning, but I don't know, I don't like egg whites anymore.
- dumped egg whites in garbage at the end of the day.
- walnuts, I was going for a nut free diet initially, I was surprised that I took some from the cupboard on aug 15, but after this day, I don't like the the mild bitter walnut taste. I think I won't use it again.
- I guess the most satisfying food that interrupted and stopped a mediocre day was the 1 yolk I had at the end of the day. I can feel the brain's gears turn after a few minutes. The taste was different, milder flavour, does a less creamy flavour mean less nutrients?, I switched egg cartons.

1 bibimbap with side dishes (cooked rice, carrot, beansprout, radish, spicy cabbage kimchi, misosoup, mushroom, + sunshine egg (runny yolk :))

2 cups of watermelon
2 oranges

1 orange
2 yolks
1 cup of watermelon

Excerpts from Social Aytundra's day.
Meeting 1:
Strolls into the room, takes a spin-able office chair. Aytundra crashes into it and spins around. Watches the grey saturated walls fly by, reads Success, Courage, Leadership, Determination, Focus...stereotypical words on posters , along with the usual pictures of people skydiving, climbing rocky mountains, making leaps between valley junctions of cliffs... as if people are really going to be inspired by these posters to take a risk to purchase a new product. They need new posters. Stops.
"Here's tea."
Aytundra looks at the mug, and says: "Thank you!"
Mind reads: "That is a very large cup of Garbage."

Meeting 2:
Strolls into a room, gazes out the window and peers at the vast view of the urban grid.
Then she sees a cruel building. Frowns at it.

"What would you like to drink? We have coffee, water, any beverages you would like?"
Mind says: "That is very nice, but I bet you don't have orange juice."
Aytundra replies: Water would be fine.

"Would you like cold water or hot water...?"
Aytundra replies: warm water

"Here's your water."
Aytundra takes a sip.
Mind says: "Oops, this is water from the coffee maker."

The menu is a lot quicker to read when you are on a diet. Basically everything is off limits.
Chooses the least destructive item, finds one with an egg.

Has a sore throat. Was it the egg whites of yesterday, or the cooked foods of today or something else?

1 cup watermelon
250ml8tbspsugarwater

2 tomatoes, 2 oranges, 2 yolks

250mlwater ~5.5tbspremaining
170g salmon Atlantic*
250mlwater ~3.5tbspremaining

2 pears
1 orange
1 runny nose, I think I am sick. If the common urban myth is that vitamin C can stop a runny nose, well it doesn't.
---
* (approximate weight, I bought a fresh salmon steak, half the cost of a restaurant trip.)
The steak was freshly cut at the supermarket.
Not sure if I am doing it right, I just rinsed it with plain water.
For the peace of mind for bacteria fearing aytundra,
I rested the fish on a heated steamed glass plate, for a minute on each side, leaving the interiors raw.
---
I might try dextrose or potato starch soon, I need to get myself from Rh to Ag.
It seems Rh might be the set point, as I have not changed much since I started the counter; measured everyday on the counter.
I might have been an Ag at the beginning of the diary.

The counter is back. Version 3 - will use calculator items only, + water, + nothing should be cooked except for eggwhites and fish. I would probably dump eggwhites at this point since I have developed a prejudice towards it, I think it made me sick, I might be wrong but whatever.
Fish, I will make an exception for cooked mackerel, because mackerel tastes really good, need to get more calories and protein in.

40g canned oysters*

3 tomatoes, 3 oranges, 1 yolk

250mlwater ~2tbspremaining
250ml3tbspsugarwater
1 giant book (it will take a long time to read especially if I keep watching tv and consequently not waking up early) :wink: .
---
still sick, runny nose, but I think it might be because I slept late the past 3-4 days, going to sleep earlier now.
*canned oysters = Not Wai item, oysters didn't work, was hoping the zinc would boost up the immune. Usually it works like a charm, for a runny nose, in the winter time. Crave aytundra enjoyed it though.

August 20, 2014 Food experiment day.
2 tomatoes, 2 oranges
25 raisins
10 blueberries

1 cubic inch of cooked sausage {Likes the warmth of the food, but why is it so super salty?}
1 cubic inch of cooked farmed salmon with spicy sauce {Sauce tastes tangy and artificially ugly, does not go well with fish.}
1 spoon of apple sauce {It is sugary, can not not like it because it is sugary, but who would buy that if they eat real fruit all day long?}
1 piece of chocolate cookie {Likes crunchy, but floury gunk sticks to teeth, does not like that cookie, because it fails the clean teeth test. }
2 pieces of heart shaped oatmeal cookie {Hearts, but nothing loveable! Oatmeal chocolate cookie actually tasted grainy and bitter. My mind does not understand why I liked oatmeal cookies before.}

75g frozen wild salmon, steamed 4 min on hot glass plate, interiors were semi-cooked. {Does not taste too different from farmed salmon, but I think I prefer the restaurants more. Mind says Aytundra has expensive tastebuds! Economic Aytundra does not comprehend Minds' opinion, wild salmon costs more, in her opinion; She should just buy frozen farmed salmon.}

250ml12tbspsugarwater
1 concoction of oj, (4 oranges = ~250ml oj, 2 yolks, ~300ml water, ~4tbsp sugar, 0.5teaspoon oo)
{Pale yellow whitish liquid, Surprised the yolk dissolved and mixed well with it. Likes the taste, but clamp presser wastes a lot of oranges. The volume of oo was too little to have a taste impact. Taste aytundra likes it. :D } Might try more variations of it!

1 peach
3 cooked shrimp with Worcestershire sauce. {Umm I've always liked shrimp, crave aytundra can't resist.}
750ml + rest of sugarwater.
---
Today's diet entry is by sampling aytundra.
She hasn't had 'real common' food for a while, but she was fair, she tried food from both sides from raw foods aytundra and cooked foods aytundra.

1 concoction of oj, (2 oranges = 200ml oj (garlic presser, 40min), 2 yolks, ~300ml water, ~4tbsp sugar, 0.5teaspoon avoo| 80min total)

~100g wild sockeye salmon, warmed by steam 4 min, the center interiors were still a little cold, should it be warmer?

320 blueberries

7 pieces of cooked shrimp {Mind hears the regression of the snail.}
0.25 piece of cooked sausage {Ignores it. Too lazy to juice an orange.}
1 cubic inch of cooked fuzzy melon {Craves oj of this morning, but that takes a long time to make.}
1 apple {Apple is not OJ, can you not stay up and make juice? Nope, I have to watch TV. growls echos lightly from somewhere, stomach or raw aytundra? I don't know they probably are both hungry. I think stomach does not like blueberries and cooked foods together, feels a little funny, fiber? Maybe it is the fiber causing the stomach to make a sound.}
---
My sibling got a sorethroat, so I can't really blame eggwhites, might add them back in, the B2 position on the chess board is a little empty.
I got a pimple yesterday, I didn't even notice it, but someone else noticed it, and said "what you are doing does not work."
I laugh, haha, well I cheated the day before, I am not surprised if I got a pimple, but thanks for confirming that cooked foods are bad.
I think aytundra has a new friend, "TV aytundra". I am jealous. - raw aytundra

1 mixture of oj, (4 oranges = 300ml oj sieved* (clamp press, 40min), 2 yolks, 6 tbsp sugar | 70 min total)
1 banana

1 large tomato and eggwhites***

1 mixture of oj, (5 oranges = 400ml oj sieved* (clamp press), 2 yolks, 6 tbsp sugar, 2 teaspoons oo | 1 hour total**)

1 large tomato and eggwhites***
1 apple
100g wild salmon steamed 5 min****
---
*sieved with a tea leaf strainer, much finer mesh.
**Juiced the halved orange with peel, much quicker than peeling then juicing, the peel was part of the intended physics of the plastic clamp orange juicer, no residual peel taste, I guess the oranges have a better peel this time? Likes juicer now, but still it takes a long time. Needs to find an electric juicer.
***egg was steamed 4-6min but stirred as it was steamed, has an appearance of marble floor with white and transparent bits gelled together, less egg smell, and not much bubbles, I think stirring as it is being cooked lets the bubbles escape.
****more cooked, interiors were warm.

1 mixture of oj, (5 oranges = 450ml oj sieved, 2 yolks, 6 tbsp sugar, 2tsp oo)
0.5 large tomato, 6 egg whites, steamed, marble gel texture

1 x 1 x 4 cm of sugary protein energy bar. {Gross, disgusting}
0.5 x 4 x 4 cm of raisin almond cracker with 0.5 x 3 x 2 cm feta cheese*

25 blueberries
100g wild salmon steamed 4 min 20 sec, cooked; thawed too long.
250ml 6tbsp sugar water

3 peaches
1 orange
---
*{Okay, I think I am done with cheese and crackers, they don't seem to hold the same taste value anymore, I expected that after a bite I would crave another bite, but that didn't happen. I ate with an almost empty and hungry stomach, so it wasn't like I was trying to prevent myself from cheese and crackers. But I can probably tell you that, Crave aytundra was totally preoccupied with craving oj of this morning. So annoying, it is like trying to get an annoying tune out of my head.}

August 25, 2014 (3.3.19)*
1 mixture of oj, (5 oranges = 450ml oj sieved, 2 yolks, 6 tbsp sugar, 2tsp oo)**

4-5 egg whites, stirred steamed 4 min
0.5 large tomato

250ml6tbspsugarwater***
50 blueberries
1 orange

3 peaches

1 mixture of fish, (100g wild salmon steamed 4 min, 8-12tbsp sugar, 150-200ml cold water, 1 yolk)****
---*****
* Hey look I didn't cheat today!
** Because of the success of the mixture of oj, not causing a noticeable acidic aftertaste, I went and tested out mixing fish with other items.
*** I've concluded sugar water with excess sugar is harsh, it leaves an acidic aftertaste when there is too much sugar.
The aftertaste is less when paired with fruits or another food item.
I am speculating, but I think with fats, proteins, or other fruit vitamins and minerals, the excess sugar gets buffered or gets used (to process other minerals, vitamins, fats or proteins) or gets processed differently.
That is why I have added the egg to fish, and hopefully the fish protein can balance out the increased sugar intake.
****Tastes like fish soup, but very sugary.
1) Warmed the fish, 2) added sugar, then added water and mixed, 3) added yolk, and swirled, 4) added fish
I am trying to increase calories, so the sugar is a lot, and the water is to balance it out to dissolve. I think a less watery sauce would be nicer to go with fish.
*****Today's menu is closer to RDA's vitamin and caloric levels.
It still had a mild side effect the next morning from too much sugar, but no teeth effect, so I still have to tweak it.

4 tomatoes*, 100g wild salmon, dipped in: oil sugar yolk sauce** = [(((6 tbsp sugar) + 1 tbsp oo) + 1 yolk) + 250ml water]
325ml mixture of oj = [(((6 tbsp sugar) + 1 tbsp oo) + 1 yolk) + 4 oranges]

>7 hours later***
350ml mixture of oj = [(4 oranges) + 6 tbsp sugar]
250ml 2tbsp sugar water = [(2tbsp sugar) + 250ml water]
---
$$$ Today's menu costs about 4.5 dozen eggs,
Takes 3.5 hours to prepare and consume,
RDA vitamins mostly met, calories increasing.
----
Methods:
*all tomatoes = [peeled + seeds removed], on my counter days.

**Math notation illustrates the chronological order of how I added items.
I have detailed the methods of combining Sugar + Fats.
I get an acidic aftertaste when I eat too much sugar.
I think the trick to reducing the side effects of excess sugar is in the methods.
Because I think excess sucrose volume should be made difficult for the body to access, I think sugar granules coated with fat will slow down release of sugar.
Because I think sucrose should be distributed evenly in a water base, for even application to intestinal walls, I think it matters how you mix sugar to water/juice.
Not giving up on sugar yet, before I go for dextrose or potato starch.

*** Moved most of my food volume up to breakfast.
Surprisingly I was not that hungry and had good energy levels in the day.
I only got thirsty at the end of the day.
Thinking of WW soon (When I say 'soon' it probably means acclimatization in month's'). :wink:

2 apples

9 - 10 egg whites

3 oranges

$$$ Today's menu costs about 2.5 dozen eggs,
Takes 2 hours to prepare and consume (oj consumed through the day),
less vitamins, and calories.
*clumps when the yolk and sugar paste drops into oj (water base), does not blend evenly; tried this ** addition and it blends more easily. But it still has a mild acid aftertaste.

oj = (12 tbsp sugar + 250 ml water) + (4 oranges ~325ml + 2 yolks)

100g wild salmon
27g - 2 slices of ham (ingredients: water and salted meat. Thinks it's safer than other hams because of 3 ingredients.) [not Wai item, salt]*

0.20 fish green bass, cooked steamed [not Wai item, cooked]*
1 peach
2 roma tomatoes

wsyoj = ((250 ml water + 4 tbsp sugar) + 1 yolk) + 2 oranges ~100ml

$$$ Today's menu costs about 3.66 dozen eggs.

*Testing boundaries, prodding the perimeters of this diet, salt and heated proteins.
Sure, I can identify the words/thought that breaks the rules: "salt" and "cooked".
But does it really break anything in reality?

Theoretical Aytundra is confused, she feels like a pretzel a bit tangled in thought.
Foodie Crave Aytundra is happy with the variation in food.
