Eating With Your Fingers
Anyone ever think about giving up silverware? Do you eat with your fingers sometimes? All the time? Just something I'm thinking about I know it's part of some cultures.
I just had some mackerel over warm brown rice with a dash of shoyu- using a fork, and am thinking I should have used my fingers Maybe rolled in nori?

Most of my food have to be eaten with fingers since they're fruits. I only eat silverware if I have to. Silverware is a social conditioning in my opinion. Eating with your bare hands brings out the caveman inside of you. I would love to gut a live fish and pick its meat with my fingers...mmm...yummy!
I don't know, mangos and avocados would be very messy without at least knives, also a lot of edible parts would be lost in the mess (near the peel, near the pit, dropped on ground, etc). Most other fruits are pretty easy to eat without silverware, especially if you dont peel most things (banana being an exception). I guess bare-handed eating is most natural.
On the other hand, primitive man as well as chimps use crude and basic tools for food, like sharp rocks, heavy rock, sticks, etc.

I did that too sometime back before I went raw. When I was in India aeons ago, we all sat cross-legged or sideways sitting for the ladies on a straw mat, our meals were placed on Plantain leaves and our hand as our "utensil". It was a very enlightening experience and the meal was even more pleasant and enjoyable.
As far as I know silverware is not mentioned as part of the diet or munch food item!chuck wrote:I only eat silverware if I have to.
